HEGARTY NAMED VICE CHAIR OF PSYCHIATRY, PENNSYLVANIA STATE MILTON S. HERSHEY MEDICAL CENTER - US Fed News Service, Including US State News

Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine issued the following news release:

James Hegarty, M.D., M.P.H., a Penn State College of Medicine graduate and central Pennsylvania native, has been named vice chair for clinical services and professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Penn State College of Medicine.

In his role as vice chair, Hegarty oversees coordination and delivery of psychiatric assessment and mental health treatment programs.

'Dr. Hegarty brings process evaluation and quality management expertise to the department and Penn State Hershey Medical Center,' said Thomas W. Uhde, chair, Department of Psychiatry, and director, Penn State Hershey Neuroscience Research Institute. 'His expertise is instrumental in shaping our focus on the implementation of evidence-based mental health services. In addition, Dr. Hegarty will provide critical leadership in developing an innovative therapeutics consultation service, a unique model of care that brings physicians together from different medical disciplines to design specialized treatments for individuals with complex or treatment-resistant brain disorders.'
