St. Louis, MO -- The following information was released by St. Louis University:
Two School of Public Health students who had received unpaid internships will now be compensated, thanks to a special endowed program that funds community-based practice experiences.
Charles Udama
Charles Uduma, who is a master's in public health student in environmental health, will intern in the Children's Environmental/Health division of the St. Louis City Health Department, where he is evaluating the blood lead screening patterns of physicians in the city.
Evangeline Lalangas, a master's in public health student in health policy, will do her internship at the Missouri Budget Project and work on projects related to legislative issues, Medicaid and health reform.

Their stipend is underwritten by the Wagner Foundation Internship award, which supports internship opportunities with agencies that do not have the financial resources to pay students.
'This award will encourage students to expand their reach to organizations that do not have the means to support them, which will ultimately benefit both the student and the organization,' said Edwin Trevathan, M.D., MPH, dean of the School of Public Health.
